It was announced this week that our Diocesan areas are being re-arranged into four from the current three episcopal areas. From September St. John’s will be in an area that runs North-South including the local government areas of Nillumbik, Hume, Whittlesea; Banyule, Darebin, Merri-bek; Melbourne, Yarra, Port Philip. From September, our new Bishop will be Megan Curlis-Gibson, who is currently vicar of St. Philip’s Deep Creek, Archdeacon of Kew and was one of the candidates in our Archbishop election last year. Our other new Diocesan Bishop will be Ben Wong who currently oversees the Eastern suburbs TIMA cross cultural parish that covers four churches. Both Megan and Ben will be consecrated as bishops at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 10:30 am on Saturday 19th of September.
It would honour God to ask his help for our new bishops as they enter new regions with new learning curves and for wisdom as our Diocesan leaders set up new area deaneries and archdeaconries.
