On the 18th of March 1990 the hymnal page in the photo below floated into the garden of the Uniting Church Manse on the corner of Hunter and Daly Streets in Brunswick West. The page was escaping from the fire that had destroyed St. John’s Anglican Church a few metres away. The Uniting church ministers, Rev. Rex Fisher, with his wife, the Rev. Judy Fischer, had the page framed and Rex kept it on his study wall through out the rest of his life in Christian ministry as a reminder of God’s promise to renew even our fading lives by the sacrifice and resurrection work of his Son Jesus, who is the long awaited Christ. In May 2026, Rex and Judy returned the page to St. John’s in our 125th year. It will form part of our historical tribute in the later half of 2026.
