Archbishop Ric Thorpe has announced our new Diocesan bishop for the Western area of Melbourne and Geelong. The Rev Canon Nigel Pope, who is currently vicar of St. John’s Footscray, will be consecrated as a bishop alongside Megan Curlis-Gibson and Ben Wong at St. Paul’s Cathedral at 10:30 am on Saturday 19th of September 2026.

Nigel brings more than two decades of ordained ministry across the church of North India and the Anglican Church of Australia in a variety of parish, cathedral, ecumenical and diocesan roles.
