For us rebellion is kind of cool. We love the rebel ideal, we celebrate the freedoms gained by the social movements we style as rebellions against the oppressive norms of our culture. To be known as a rebel (or, ‘a bit of a rebel’) is a compliment… until it is not. Everything depends on what we are rebelling against or for and who we harm in our rebellion. In Numbers 13 and 14 we find God’s people rebelling against the God who rescued them from slavery. The warning of their example sounds like a tolling bell throughout the rest of the Bible – asking us the question, do we live by faith or fear? Our services this weekend are at 10 am (Prayer and Praise) and 5 pm (Communion and healing service).
