The good news that God has given us in Jesus works. That is the point of Paul’s list of names at the end of his letter to the churches in Rome. The names show those churches were made of people from all parts of society. Paul has been arguing throughout his letter that the things that normally divide our societies God has been working, throughout history, to bring together.  Our essential unity is the news that anyone can entrust their lives to Jesus and that is enough to first justify and then change our existence.
