Community

Seniors
St John's has a wonderful contigent of older people, and many groups and activities at St John's are centred around them:
Mother’s Union
The Mother’s Union has been a central part of the church’s social life for many decades. It meets monthly for social time, outings and invites regular speakers.
Craft group
The craft group meets monthly on a Monday night, 6pm at the church. They usually get take-away from a nearby restaurant and then spend time crafting and chatting. Items from the craft group are sold to support sponsor children, speakers and the church.
Seniors minister
Rev Fred Cook is our Seniors minister, and especially provides pastoral care for older members of our church and community. If you would like to speak or pray with Fred, please contact the office.
Nursing home visits
St John's has relationships with a number of nursing homes in the area. We run regular nursing home visits, providing spiritual support, encouraging words and communion for those not able to get to church on Sundays. We currently visit around four nursing homes each month.
