Today we start a new series of sermons Kingdoms in Conflict, from the book of Daniel. This book was written to encourage God’s people following their defeat at the hands of the Babylonians. Despite outward appearances, all was not lost. God was still on his throne and “sovereign over the kingdom of mortals” (Dan 4:17).
Throughout our series we will be inspired by heroes of faith such as Daniel and his three friends, and mystified by strange visions and prophecies. Above all, we will be reminded of the greatness of God and his kingdom that will never pass away. May these studies in Daniel be a blessing to us all.
Pentecost 6 this Sunday is a Holy Communion Service, a wonderful opportunity for us all to draw close to God because of his mercy towards us in Jesus. By faith we feed on Christ in our hearts and ask the Spirit to fill us afresh, that we might faithfully serve and follow our Lord all our days. Richard will preach from Daniel 1: Witnesses in Exile.
