We want to co-operate with God's working of drawing people to himself. We think the good news of Jesus is wonderful for everyone, and we're committed to sharing this love and Lordship of Jesus with those around us. However we're convinced this needs to be loving and respectful (1 Peter 3:14-16) and also that people have the right to choose whether to take up God's offer of forgiveness, acceptance and hope. We have many links with the wider community: these show God's love to those around us in words and actions.
We want to grow in our faith, and to encourage each other to follow Jesus more and more faithfully (Ephesians 4:11-16). Our Sunday services give us a regular chance to learn and be reminded of God's truths, and to be encouraged by what God is doing among us. We meet together in a range of small groups, and also provide a library with a range of Christian books. Spiritual growth is not just seen in knowledge, and we encourage hospitality, loving each other more deeply and growing in character through all these activities.
God has given gifts to all members of his church, which are for the common good (1 Corinthians 12). We want to use these abilities to serve God, each other and the world around us. St John's provides many opportunities to get involved in this way, and also financially and prayerfully supports the work of others around the globe.
